New hotel projects continue to pop up across the city. The Delta Hotel by Marriott recently opened downtown. The Sagamore Pendry Baltimore will debut this year in Fells Point. But despite the new additions, the rankings of the largest hotels across the Baltimore area won’t see any change. The board of the University of Maryland BioPark in March will receive details on two unsolicited proposals to build a new hotel on the sprawling West Baltimore campus. Jailbreak Brewing Co. hasn’t even been open for three years, but 2017 will see the large tap room be joined by a kitchen at the Howard County brewery. Justin Bonner, co-founder and CEO of Jailbreak, said the brewer will use about 2,000 square feet to incorporate the kitchen and additional seating. The square footage is coming from space the brewery already leases at 9445 Washington Blvd. in Laurel. Bonner said the focus was squarely on the tap room when they opened in 2014 and making a “cool mothership."…

Baltimore Ravens great Ray Lewis is planning to launch a limited-run Kentucky bourbon, called Ray’s Reserve, according to a report in The Spirits Business, a trade publication. According to the report, the bourbon is sourced from an unnamed distillery — something that’s common practice in the industry. There will only be 100 bottles of Ray’s Reserve available. They’ll go on sale Feb. 15 and will only last until the last bottles are sold. That said, Lewis is planning to release three other alcohol…

Gov. Larry Hogan will introduce legislation first proposed by Comptroller Peter Franchot last year aimed at combating tax fraud and identity theft. Franchot has said he needs more tools and statutory powers to effectively protect taxpayers. The comptroller has become increasingly vocal over the last year about the growing tax fraud problem both nationally and in Maryland. The bill proposed by Franchot last year died in the Senate even though it passed through the House of Delegates by a 135-1 vote.…

National fitness chain Pure Barre will open a studio at The Rotunda in Hampden next month. The 1,600-square-foot studio will be located in space at the newly renovated Rotunda at 711 W. 40th St. The North Baltimore development has undergone a $70 million redevelopment that includes addition of 379 apartments and new retail. The Pure Barre studio will be owned by Nocholette Dunleavy, who also owns a studio in Canton that opened last year. There are more than 400 Pure Barre franchises in the U.S.…
