Developers, you’ll be paying more to build in Montgomery County. The Council Council on Tuesday approved, unanimously and with little discussion, revised development impact tax rates. The rates, for both the school and transportation-related taxes, are changed every two years. Since 2005, development impact taxes have raised $211.1 million for schools and $113.2 million for transportation. The numbers vary greatly year over year. The school tax generated $45.8 million in fiscal 2014, for example,…

Pepco sought to hike its electric distribution rates to generate $126.8 million in additional revenue, which would have led to a $15.80 spike in the average monthly residential bill. Instead, the PSC agreed to $52.5 million, raising the average monthly bill by $6.96. The new rates are now in effect. In 2015, according to the Maryland PSC,…

Good morning, and happy Wednesday. Expert the weather pattern to stay the same as it has been the past few weeks. It’ll start out cold this morning and eventually get mild into the 60s. Bernie Sanders speak at Johns Hopkins tomorrow? You’re already out of luck. Seats for reserved and overflow seating…

Plans for 43-acres of waterfront land in Westport owned by Under Armour CEO Kevin Plank will be tackled in the future, a Plank Industries executive said Tuesday. Tom Geddes, CEO of Plank Industries, which includes Sagamore Development, said during an interview on WYPR-FM’s Midday show that the property on the Middle Branch of the Patapsco River was still a work in progress. Across the water, Sagamore is redeveloping more than 200 acres of land at Port Covington into a mixed-use project. “Westport…
