At least, there had at one point been bags of food. Now all that was left was water and greens. “We’re screwed down here in Sandtown,” Kelly said. It was true. The unrest that followed the death…

An eyeglass retailer that is giving the industry stiff competition by selling discounted fashionable frames has set up shop in Baltimore’s Harbor East neighborhood. Warby Parker quietly opened its store on Wednesday at 807 Aliceanna St. It’s holding a grand opening at the space on April 30. The 1,000-square-foot store occupies a portion of the former City Sports space. Brooks Brothers occupies the remaining 5,500 square feet. The New York company is notoriously hush hush in debuting its retail…

The University of Maryland Medical System Foundation raised $700,000 to support advanced trauma training at its annual R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center Gala. The largest fundraiser of the year for the Shock Trauma, which is part of the system’s flagship University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, returned April 16 after being canceled last year in light of the city’s unrest. The gala attracted 1,500 guests. The money raised will support the Center for Critical Care and Trauma Education…

It’s time to go to the theater!

I’ve found $50 seats — including in the orchestra section — for upcoming performances of “Cabaret,” which will begin its weeklong stint at the Hippodrome Theatre on April 26. Such tickets usually go for over $100.

So get those seats while they last. There are only…

Fox is close to signing a deal that gives it half of the Big Ten’s available media rights package, according to several sources. Deal terms still are flexible, both in terms of money and rights. However, the two sides have agreed on basic terms that will give Fox the rights to around 25 football games and 50 basketball games that it will carry on both the broadcast channel and FS1 starting in the fall of 2017. The deal runs six years and could cost Fox as much as $250 million per year, depending…
