Maryland gained 2,500 jobs in May, lifted by a big increase in education and health services positions. The state’s unemployment rate decreased slightly to 4.5 percent, down from 4.6 percent in April, according to preliminary data released Friday by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. A corrugated box company has purchased a former airplane wing manufacturing building in Baltimore County for $5.7 million to consolidate its business. Sun Automation Group recently purchased the 180,000-square-foot plant that sits on 36 acres of rural land at 12201 Long Green Pike in Glen Arm.
