Maryland lost 4,400 government jobs in July but the unemployment rate remained steady thanks to a bump in private sector jobs. The state reported Friday that it saw an increase of 7,300 jobs in the private sector, allowing the unemployment rate to remain at 4.3 percent — the same figure as in June.
