John Paterakis Sr. , a Baltimore native who created the largest privately owned bakery, H&S Bakery, in the nation and turned a dilapidated swath of land near Fells Point into the swanky Harbor East neighborhood, died Sunday at the age of 87. Paterakis died at Johns Hopkins Hospital from complications of myelodysplasia, a bone marrow disorder. A private service will be held on Thursday.
