Maryland banks continue to grow their bottom line. The state’s 55 federally insured banks posted a profit of $260 million in the third quarter, according to data released Tuesday by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. That’s up 17.6 percent from a profit of $221 million in 2015. The state had 64 federally insured banks at the time, a number that has shrunk due to continued industry consolidation.
