Neff, currently a microbiologist with a doctorate degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, first got into microbrewing 12 years ago. Cincinnati-based retail giant Macy’s Inc. announced Wednesday that it’s closing 68 of 870 its stores, impacting more than 5,000 of its employees nationwide. Macy’s (NYSE: M) said the closings are part of the approximately 100 stores it will close by the end of 2017. The 68 stores represent 5,267 employees impacted. Southwest Airlines is launching flights from Cincinnati in the spring, with Baltimore as one of the the first nonstop destinations. The low-cost carrier will offer eight daily flights from Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport starting June 4, 2017. Five of those flights will go to Chicago Midway, while three will go to Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport. New restaurants and breweries in Maryland are resulting in more tourists and revenue for the state, according to a report released Wednesday by the Maryland Office of Tourism Development. Visitors to Maryland spent nearly $17 billion on travel expenses in 2015, up 3.5 percent from the previous year. The report also found that Maryland welcomed 40.5 million visitors in 2015, a 6 percent increase from 2014, which also outpaced the growth of national visitation by a full percentage point.
