Maryland officials on Monday revealed the companies — including several in the Baltimore area — that will likely be the first to legally grow and process medical marijuana in the state. The announcement comes a week after the state’s Natalie M. LaPrade Medical Cannabis Commission announced it had granted preliminary approval to 15 growers and 15 processors. The Baltimore City Council is sending a bill to raise the minimum wage to $15 back to committee following a vote Monday evening. Councilwoman Mary Pat Clarke, the bill’s sponsor, called for the vote. The amendment to be added will clarify wage stipulations for persons with disabilities. Monday’s 8-6-1 vote means the controversial bill “lives on another day,” Clarke said, and will head back to the council’s Labor Committee for more revisions.
